Looks: Eleventh Division Captain Toshiwakai Kourei's appearance is that of a small, young boy with violet hair and tanned skin. He wears the normal Shinigami robes, with the Captain's haori. He appears to be the youngest, as well as the smallest among the Captains and Lieutenants. Though young, he has the mentality of an elderly man. Despite his child-like appearance, Toshiwakai is quite strong, being capable of lifting Kenpachi Mutsigari [His Captian Then, Who Was A Giant. 6'1 190 kg.] and leaping between buildings while carrying him. Also very fast, which fits his small figure well.

Zanpaktou Information
Zanpaktou Name: Hikari
Zanpakutou Appearance: Blazing. A blade which seems to be made directly from light or instead, concealed by light. It wasn't an average sized Katana like most Captain's held. It was a Kodachi, otherwise known as a short blade. It was thirty centimeters in length, a perfect length for someone that of the Captain's height. The light is provided by Hikari - his Zanpakutou. This light that conceals the blade is heated-- thus able to burn. It is capable of inflicting first degree burn upon contact with the flesh. Mind you, the acuteness/sharpness of the blade is just as any other Zanpakutou. (I do believe the sharpness of all Zanpakutou's are the same?)

Shikai Appearence: It remains the same.
Shikai Ability: The blade and the light around becomes capable of being manipulated. This blade could be elongated, enlarged... or completely changed. The hilt though maintains its form. The time in which it takes for this blade to be manipulated lasts for a second - three. The humidity of the blade also increases, now being able to inflict second degree burns. The acuteness as well is better. The light quantity being supplied by Hikari is also increased - becoming ultraviolet so it leaves radiation burns on the enemy on contact. This however doesn't affect Toshiwakai. The length at which Toshiwakai is able to elongate his sword varies from two sword blades to that of two hundred sword blades. The amount of time at which the blade is fully elongated is brief, being that of three seconds at most.

Bankai Appearence: Nothing changes.
Bankai Ability: The intensity of the heat is increased, and Toshiwakai is now capable of melting the target's skin on contact, and burning it, giving third-degree burns through friction in the air, alone. (When close to 'em). This doesn't affect Toshiwakai, but to his Zanpakutou spirit protecting him from harm. Upon release, a wave of light mixed with rieatsu erupts from around Toshiwakai, and spreading outwards finally dispersing when its covered a distance of thirty meters. This light is capable of blinding Toshiwakai's enemy, but only for a small period of time. This blindness lasts for three posts at most. The light is also intense, and thus causes second-degree burns on contact. Toshiwakai is now capable of manipulating the light his Zanpakutou supplies, and that of the light around.

Background and Personality
History: As a boy, with no relatives known to him, he stalked the man known as Kenpachi Mitsurugi. He admired the battles he had, and how strong he was. Scared of being killed if he approached Mitsurugi, he decided to keep a fair distance between them both. That way, he could still learn about this man while not endangering his life by a whole lot. While he witnessed most of Mitsurugi's battles, he practiced on his own at times - attempting to perfect his combat skills. He performed as much as a hundred push-ups, and double that for sit-ups. He worked on perfecting the manipulation of his reishi, so as to harden his skin - up to the point at which he got it to be as strong as an Espada. Yes, he did learn of the Arrancars while in Rukongai and witnessed their battles.

And so it came about that after years of stalking his idol, he decided to approach Mitsurugi. Having gotten ready in case he engaged in a battle with the man, he was sure he could always flee. But what occurred, wasn't what he expected. The Kenpachi surprisingly had him speak and then, gave him his name. After having interest in the boy's knowledge, he gave him the name 'Toshiwakai Katsu Kourei' meaning Young Yet Old. The boy took a likening to the name, and from then on, the two became a unseparated force. He graduated from the Academy, just about the same time Mitsurugi did. They both joined the 11th division. Toshiwakai advanced in ranks, just as Mitsurugi did. He did not need to fight anyone to advance in ranks, Mitsurugi did all the work. Mitsu later became a Captain- and he, became the Lieutenant. Eventually, time passed - his Captain died, and he took his Captain's place as Captain of the 11th division.

Personality: At first glance, one might categorize Toshiwakai with children his age. An act which he considers ignorant and false. Toshiwakai is far from being a child, though his appearance portrays one. His calm and innocent appearance hides the wild and aggressive side to him. Toshiwakai lives for battle and enjoys a good fight more than anything. As his division is known as the most bloodthirsty in Gotei 13, he gets quite sadistic in battle - thriving to see the pain of one. He will unhesitatingly kill his opponent, if he deems them weak - believing they are merely a burden in the world.
