A Beautiful Morning (Kira)

The sun was just beginning to rise in the Soul Society when a raven haired Captain walked out of his manor and headed onto the streets of Seireitei. The air was crisp and cool, and for that Byakuya was glad. Hopefully the day would stay cool, and not be scorching hot like the day before, and the day before that. Heat. Byakuya couldn't stand it. It made everyone sweat, and sweating certainly wasn't attractive. And more importantly, it made it so no one was able to go outside without risking heat stroke. Byakuya had lots of work to do, and he definitely didn't want to get heat stroke. What would become of his paperwork? Surely he couldn't leave it for Renji to do. That would probably end up in disaster. Byakuya didn't dislike his energetic lieutenant, but the redhead had a talent for misplacing things, and Byakuya hated when he couldn't find important papers. Luckily there wasn't any danger of that today. Byakuya had finished his paperwork yesterday (early of course) and turned it in. Today was his day off, much to his relief. And what would he do? That Byakuya didn't know for sure. All he knew was it would be something relaxing.

The Captain walked down the streets, noticing how few people were out. That's why Byakuya loved early morning. Well, that and the cool temperature. Crowds weren't Byakuya's favorite thing, so he enjoyed those moments where he could be alone. Later in the day the streets were always buzzing with shinigami. Byakuya stopped for a moment, and tipped his head back, looking up at the beautiful sunrise. Red, pink, and orange mixed together, with a hint of gold. Byakuya gave a sigh of contentment. It was truly amazing.

Izuru was still kind of tried when he woke up that morning. It kind of bummed him out that he was up this earlier. The blond had no paper work that he could think of right now. Slowly the blond pushed himself up of the floor of his room. Before on his top and vice captains badge and running his hand over his hair. Kira left the room with a bored expression on his face. Wondering if he should check his desk for any new paper work that wasn't there when he left last night. Izu made a face that thought in his mind and hoped there wasnt any for his own sanity’s sake. Right now the blond was feeling happy asleep , so he was in no mood to do any paper work. He wanted to take the day off an relax a bit if he could.

Rounding the corner Kira spotted a couple huddle shingami. The group looked at him for a moment like he was rude , then looked back at each other. Zu made a face and then looked forward again. Spotting Captain Kuchki staring up at the sky. Kira made a confused face at him before looking up at the sky to see what he was looking at. He noticed the bright colored sunrise in the and sky and made a disappointed face. The blond thought it was pretty , but it meant that he was up wicked early. Kira was annoyed that he was up this earlier when he had nothing to. He blamed the night mare he had last night. Letting out a small sigh he began to walk forward again.

The Captain stood there for a few more minutes, staring at the beautiful sky. I wish Hisana could have seen this, he thought sadly. He shook his head and mentally scolded himself for thinking about that. When she died he promised himself he was only going to think of her fondly, not wish she was here or that she could see something. She couldn't. She was dead and Byakuya needed to stop wishing she was alive. It had been 50 years. Surely he should have gotten over it by now. Byakuya sighed and forced the thoughts out of his mind. He was here to enjoy himself, not to think about the past. Suddenly he heard someone near him and turned, startled. Kira. He hadn't felt the leitenant's spiritual energy. I should stay alert, he told himself. A hollow could have been here and he wouldn't have known it.

The raven haired captain glanced at the other again, noticing that he looked tired. That wasn't surprising. Not many shinigami were up that early. But he shouldn't show how tired he is. Not when there can be enemies around. That was one of the things all the shinigami were taught in the academy. To always look alert and awake, even if you weren't. "Kira Izuru," he said emotionlessly, no expression on his face. "I see you are not used to being up this early. I suggest you try to look alert anyway. And since you're lieutenant, it looks especially bad for you. You wouldn't want to get demoted, would you? The Soul Society needs leaders who not only act official, but look official." Byakuya looked up again, done with his lecture. The sun was coming up fast.

Kira was slightly surprised that the older captain had even spoken to him. Because he so fixed on watching the sun rise up from the horizon line. Izuru was slightly surprised by the captain words. It was still early in the morning and blond had only been up a couples seconds. So he was prone to look tried still from sleeping all night. No one could wake up all the way as soon as they woke. The could hide it ,but that could take a couple minutes of adjusting. At least it did for Kira to pretend he wasn't tried ,even he looked that way on a normal basis even when he was not. The blond a couple times in attempt to get the sleepers out of his eyes. That were still making his eyes tired even though he was awake now.


Kira was speechless at the captain words about demotion. he did not want to get demoted from his post. He had worked so hard to get here and went through so much in this position. And to top it off he had now finally reached banaki. Kira hoped that the raven haired captain was lying about that. But the squad six captain was not really the joking type when it came to the rules. But still Kira hoped that he was just stretching the rules a bit. Like he did long ago with Renji when he fought they ryoka boy. " Hai Captain Kuchiki "he said calmly to the stern looking man before putting on his best awake face. Which looked like he normal bored expression he wore anyway.

Kira made a face at the captains words to him about his old captain. The blonds eyes widen slightly in fright ,before his darted to the floor. He could feel an uncomfortable sweat coming down his brow. Wondering why the captain would bring up something like that to him. The blond did not know how he felt about the matter. Seeing his old captain did leave him alone and betray him. but still he could not help feeling up set when he heard his captains name and the d word in the same sentence. He then wondered if that was why he was having those weird hallucinations of the past. Because he missed his captain or perhaps because he was sad. Kira's eyes remained on his feet trying to think of a response to the captain standing before him.

Taking a deep breathe Kira looked back up at the raven haired captain. Who seemed unfazed by the words that he had said the blond. But that was nothing new ,because the sixth squad captain seemed unfazed by allot of things. Izuru remained quiet for a couple more moments. And opened his mouth to say something by nothing came out ,so he closed it again. " Um yeah it has hasn’t it?" He said to the captain finally. In his voice you could hear allot of uneasiness The blond let some air escape his lips again as he waited for the captain to speak again. Hoping he would not catch the uncomfortable tone in his voice.

Kira made a face at the captains next words still about his old captain. This time asking if he had gotten over the betrayal. The raven haired captain was right about that face. He had not gotten over it and now he something else about his captain to worry about. It was something that people would expect him to move on from. Because his captain had turned evil and betrayed the soul society with Aizen. So far Kira want not having allot luck with the matter , but he did not like to talk about. Even if talking about things was the right thing to do when your up set. Izu had no clue what to say to the captain about the matter. Because he knew the captain would just tell him he needed to move. The sixth squad captain was very into the rules so it was an obvious answer.

The Captain's next words saved the blond from having to reply on the tender subject. Not the only thing he had to worry about was if it was brought up again. The arrancarr was not something the blond had been worrying about to much. But he had heard rumors about them having a new leader. " I heard some rumors suggesting they might. But I’m not sure what to believe. " He told the dark haired captain calmly with a bored look on his face as usual.

At first he had just shrugged them off, thinking they didn't mean anything. After all, rumors were rumors. Many weren't true. But most rumors just stopped after a while. But not these. They kept coming, and now Byakuya didn't know what to believe. He knew, from fighting Zommari, that some of the Arrancar were extremely loyal to their Aizen. They would do anything to protect him, including die. But would they really try to avenge his death? That was a hard question.

"Yes, it's hard to know what to believe," Byakuya replied, studying the blond. I don't know if they'll attack or not, but I do know that we should be prepared for anything. Some of the shinigami are getting far too relaxed." He eyed Kira. "We need to be ready in case something happens. We can't be lazy. We must not take any chances." The raven haired Captain stared Kira straight in the eye, with a look that usually sent most shinigami running for cover, or at least made them extremely uncomfortable. "Are you ready, Third Division Vice Captain?"

Kira agreed with captains comment about some of the shinigami getting relaxed since Aizen's death. He had noticed it even in his own squad from time to time. They would often act like they were working when he passed by them. But the blond knew they went back to slacking off as soon as his back was turned. They thought he was dumb because he never said anything to them. Kira never said anything to them for a couple reasons. One was that it was a real pain and he did not want to start trouble with anybody. Another reason was he did not want to look like a total ass, because he wasn’t'. So why pretend to be that way just to get somebody to do something you wanted.

" I agree I noticed in my squad as well.” He told the captain calmly as a couple people walked by them after bowing gently. Kira blinked a couple times when the captain began staring him down. It made him wondering what the heck is that look all about. Kira could answer yes to the captains next question about being ready. He personally thought he was ready ,because he had been training hard lately. So hard to the point that he had finally reached bankai. Now he only hoped that his captain and him weren’t the only ones ready in his squad. " Hai Kuchiki Taichou I am. I just hope everybody else is.” he said sounding unsure at the end of his sentence.

Byakuya peared at Kira intently, his eyes showing no kindness or respect. "I hope you are," he said finally, his words sounding a little like a threat. He turned away from Kira and looked down the empty street. It was still too early for most people to be out, and Byakuya was glad. He hated being around lots of people. Whenever there was a Captain's meeting he always tried to ignore the others. "Yes, everyone else must be prepared as well. We never know what might happen next. Aizen almost won because we were unprepared.... he would of if Kurosaki Ichigo hadn't been there." Byakuya hated to give Ichigo credit for saving them all, but he had to. Without him the Soul Society would be destroyed. The raven haired Captain didn't like Ichigo; he still thought the other was a disrespectful brat, but he was grateful to him. And even he had to admit the young Vizard had great skill. Byakuya turned back to Kira for a minute before looking away. "Is your division prepared?" he asked finally.

Kira bit his lip slightly at the captain first words to him about him being ready. He made a face at that in his thought ,because it sounded like he was being put down. The captain cold expression added to that feeling. The blond had been put down alot in the past by even his own squad members. He had finally reached bankai and now a captain was putting him down. It made his wonder if he actually had gotten any stronger like he thought he did. he certainly felt like he did ,but now he was slightly doubting it. Because it sounded like the raven haired captain was telling him that he had not. " Hai sir I am. I achieved bankai" he said calmly with small sigh.

Kira listen to the six squad captain next words about the winter war with Aizen. Talking about how they almost lost with out the ryoka boy called Ichigo. Izuru hated the boy slightly because he cost him his captain, but he never told anyone that. “ Hai that’s true , but we are anywhere of what were up against this time so many we will be a little more prepared. “ the blond suggested calmly as some more people began to enter the street. The captain question him about his squad and their state again. “ The seemed to be working hard so, id say they are.” He told the captain with a bored expression on his face. Hoping that his squad was as ready as he thought they were.
