Bored

Yuki stood on the small hill, the frigid breeze blowing gently across the smooth grass. She loved days like today where the temperature was perfect. She looked out across the field which the hill over loooked, wondering for what felt like the 50th time that minute why she was there. She was currently in the living world, in case of any hollow attacks, though so far there had only been one or two minor incidences - not neearly bad enough to warrant her to be here. And if she was going to be completely honest with herself she was slightly bored. Sure, it was nice and relaxing watching the grass as it bent with the wind, but you could only watch grass for so long. She pushed a stray hair away from her eye and sighed. Why this hill in particular? Why couldn't she have choosen to stand on a hill that at least over looked something? The questions in her head were endless.

And that was how she remained for the better part of the afternoon as the sun very slowly began to drop and become shrouded in clouds, allowing the temperature to drop even further. Yuki could feel the moisture in the air - it would rain soon. But as the wind picked up, whipping her hair around her face and tugging at her clothes she felt something else out of place near the edge of the field she had been so intently watching for the past couple of hours. Visibiltiy was sllightly poor, so she had to rely on her ability to sense spiritual pressure to guide her towards the edge of the field and the strange feeling she was sensing. MAybe it would be a hollow so she could break out of her boring ruitine of doing nothing all day. Even if it was a small hollow that she could dispatch of in two seconds it would still be a reprieve from her boredom that, being the good captain she was, would never admit to feeling.

Rose was getting restless. It had been only a few days back in the city and he needed to get some true fresh air. He decided to go to the place he once would relax. He walked outside of town to a open plain. He remembered that he used to come here with some of his fellow vizards. "The times are a changin'..." said Rose sorrowfully. He walked till he came across a hill. He looked up and saw a person, which wasn't what surprised him, but that he could sense a powerful spiritual pressure coming from this person. Well what do we have here? Rose thought. Maybe I'm in for some fun after all...

Yuki followed the presence until she was a few feet away from the source of the power. It came from an older male with blonde hair, though she knew instantly that he was no normal human, but he also wasn't a shinigami... Her hand dropped to her hilt in preparation of a battle.

"Who are you?" Her voice was strong and held a note of authority, though there was a coldness to it that rivalled the surrounding air temperature. Her tone seemed to say "don't mess with me". Her eyes never left his face as they calculated and planned for numerous different scenarios which could play out - though in her head she was hoping (but only slightly) that he would be somebody she would need to fight, if only to give her something to do; the material world really was quite boring.

Here it was, the spiritual pressure that Rose had sensed. His eyes immediately went to her hand on her sword. He then looked up to notice the person was a young woman. "Nice to meet you miss." Said Rose with a smirk on his face. He started walking in a circle around the woman, "Hmmm, It's obvious your a shinigami. Captain perhaps?" He said questioning her. "How is the soul society lately, it's been forever since a last visited" he chuckled. He kept walking till he was back to her front. "Can I ask what a beautiful young shinigami is doing in this part of the human world?" Rose asked.

Yuki stood still as the man walked around her, not liking the scrutiny she felt under his gaze - she always felt uncomfortable around people who she felt were inspecting her.

"I am 10th division captain Koori Yuki, and as for my purpose here, I would have to say that it is none of your business." Her tone was cool with no emotion betraying any of her thoughts as she steadily kept eye contact.

"I see you you failed to answer my question before so I will ask once more - who are you?" She kept her guard up, waiting for his response as her hand never strayed from the hilt of her zanpakuto. She could almost feel the tension building as she prepared herself for the possibility of an attack - though her resonable side said that if he was going to attack her he would have already done it by now. But she was much too cautious to listen to her resonable side.

"Captain huh, this should be interesting." He said. "Name's Rose. Nice to meet you. I once was the Captain of the 3rd division." He usually isn't this happy, but something told him that this girl wasn't going to dissapoint. He took a few steps back and let out a big yawn. "Listen, I can tell your strong, and hopefully you can tell I'm no pushover. So, the logical thing is to go at it. It would definitely benefit me and hopefully you as well." he put his hand on his Zanpaktou. "What do ya say" He asked.

Yuki looked at him critically and thought for a moment before letting a small, uncharacteristic smile to play across her face. Finally, something to do! Her hand fell to her zanpakuto and she slid it slightly out of her sheath to show that she was planning to accept his challenge.

"Why not? I'm not doing anything right at this moment anyway, and as you said, it would be beneficial. But you're right in saying that I'm strong so to be nice I'll give you a chance to back out before I beat you."

She loved pre-fight banter, it made it seem that much more exciting, though she wasn't some crazed person who loved to fight - not like the idiots from the 11th division. She spread her legs shoulder width apart and bent her knees slightly to adjust her weight so she wouldn't be off balanced and waited for Rose to answer - though she knew that he would just scoff at her words and start the fight - considering it was his proposal to begin with. And she would be ready for when he did come.
